Encouraging Youth As They Grow In Faith!

“And don’t let anyone put you down because you’re young.  Teach believers with your life: by word, by demeanor, by love, by faith, by integrity.”

1 Timothy 4:12 The Message

Don’t Be Afraid to ROCK Your Faith!

What is YOUR story?  Share with the Youth Rock Community how Christ has impacted your life.

So think about a tree. Now everyone knows that before a tree can grow into a beautiful tall tree it has to be planted into the ground. Then you have to pour water onto it and the water helps the tree GROWWW! Then after that roots will grow and the roots are the SUPPORTTT! For the tree. Then with a little more water and stronger roots the tree will grow strong and beautiful!
Now take a minute and imagine yourself as the tree. Now think what in your life are your water and your roots. What helps you grow and your support.
When I pictured myself as the tree and tried to figure out what my water and roots were I came up with three major things: friends, family, and God.
My friends are like the water. They have helped me and continue to help me grow. By “good morning” hugs at school on a dreary day or sharing music in choir at church. Together we grow by having fun and helping each other out.
My family is like the roots. They support and love you. Even if your annoying little brother is getting on your last nerve and keeps asking you to play with him and you know that is the last thing you want to do. But you know that he will always love you and always look at you as one of his role models. Or if you don’t have a little brother, your sister has just borrowed your favorite sweater for the hundredth time and you are about to explode because you’ve told her not to take it without asking. But like the younger brother she too will always love you and be there for you. Or you’re an only child and your parents have just grounded you for what you think is no reason what so ever. And they keep telling you “well honey we’re only doing this because we love you…” haha how many times have I heard that one? And you’re just thinking well if you really loved me you wouldn’t be punishing me. But truly they do have a reason for what they do and they will always love you and wish the best for you and be your personal cheerleaders cheering you on.
The final thing that helps me grow is God and the church. The only way I can explain this to you is by my personal story. About three or four years ago my mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and if anyone out there knows someone whether it’s family or a close friend, you know that it’s an extremely hard time for you and the family. So when my parents told me and my sister and brother they also told us it would be better if we didn’t talk to people about it and that would help us coup with the news. But this ended up being the complete opposite of what I needed to do. Because if anyone out there knows me they’d know I’m a huge people person and I love talking to people about anything even if it’s someone I just met. Although I obeyed my parents and kept to myself. Eventually I found myself growing quieter and didn’t talk to my friends about much that was going on in my life and I didn’t like that. I decided I had to talk to somebody so I went to God. I begged and prayed to him that he would cure my mom and I thought the more I prayed, the more I went to church this would cure her and make the process faster. So I went to church every chance I could thinking this is all I can do for her. And then she got better. So I figured at first that must of done it all this going to church cured her. But I later realized that that wasn’t the case instead it cured me. I continued to go to youth group and choir because I wanted to because it was what made me happy. And I have found it helpful to me as I grow stronger with God and my faith.
With friends, family and God I feel I have grown to be a person I really enjoy and hope to continue growing. I love coming to church and being surrounded with my loving friends and family who continue to help me grow.
I just wanna end by thanking everyone again for coming tonight and hope everyone has a blas
t with what we have in store for you.
